Jennifer Kang

Deacon

Jennifer was ordained as a deacon in 2001 through the Province of Rwanda while serving with William and Anne Beasley at Church of the Redeemer in Highland Park. At that time she worked with the formation of the Anglican Mission in America (AMiA), the group Rez was a part of before the birth of our current Anglican Diocese and wonderful new Province. Prior to her work in the Anglican church, Jen received a Master’s degree in Church History from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and, before that, a Bachelor's in Speech from Northwestern University.

Jen's diaconal role is lived out in a few main ways. She volunteers as a friendship visitor at the DuPage Convalescent Center, having served there for over 10 years. She is an avid fan of retreats and has led a monthly retreat ministry before coming to Rez, where she still enjoys organizing such opportunities for people to meet the Lord. Finally, one of her favorite parts of being a deacon is reading the Gospel, and she has spent many years developing creative Scripture presentations with the goal of making the Word alive and engaging to people.

Jen's husband, Tony, is a software engineer who serves as a volunteer for Rez's computer needs, and their son, Jeremy, is a 5th grader in The Greenhouse (which makes Jen also a homeschooling mom). Besides family and ministry, Jen's life revolves around the awesomely amazing sport of tennis. This is an obsession, er, interest, shared by all three Kangs, who may reside in Winfield, but whose hearts are at home in Wimbledon!
